  • I have been in a major funk this week, and in praying about it I realize that there have been times when I've lived under God's direct light on me, I experience growth, life, etc. And there are some times, like this week, when my only sustenance seems to be living off the reflection of things he's already done in me, and the things he's doing in others. It's a very dry place, and I haven't been able to write, or do anything except work and more work and watch old tv episodes. Mindless junk. At any rate, I managed to squeeze this out, and thought I'd share... I don't normally rhyme, but here goes.

Some time has passed by since the last sun has set
The sun dipping under the ocean
The last masterpiece, an intense silhouette
    Full of bright multicolored emotion

And after the sunset does turn into night
Such a darkness, to contrast with day
The world is then lit by radiant moonlight
Turning white things from black into grey

The moonlight suffices compared to dark sky
Mere reflection of sun tucked away
While I know you always shine somewhere on mankind
Could you shine over here, and please stay?

Tiny fingers of light dancing softly on sky
As if hinting of new dawn arising
Mere offspring of rays from the sun's vast supply
    Waiting patiently below the horizon

After walking in moonlight for too many nights
    Only seeing reflections of You
Please shine once again on me rays that are bright
And bring this dark place into view

And I realize that life has both darkness and day
There are times, there are seasons for both
If this sun is about to rise, please don't delay
For only the sun provides growth

Like trees to the sun, Lord, I live for Your shine
    And moonlight cannot long sustain
And though I have asked You this hundreds of times
Please rise in my life once again

I know that place you're talking about and it really bites. You feel immobile, unable to write anything down, and feeling like you're rubbing to pennies together looking for the littlest bit of inspiration. Hang in there friend. I've felt the same.
